Riva di Tures (Rain in Taufers) è un piccolo paese nel cuore delle Alpi del Sudtirolo, in Val di Riva. Durante l’inverno, il paese può ritrovarsi isolato per giorni. Il progetto propone un nuovo centro comunitario necessario allo svolgimento delle attività invernali della comunità. Un corpo articolato in una successione di spazi aperti e chiusi, autonomi ma collegati tra loro, si inserisce nel contesto urbano attraverso dei volumi che riprendono le proporzioni e la tipologia insediativa del territorio. Le funzioni sono suddivise in due livelli attraverso collegamenti orizzontali e verticali che creano le connessioni richieste dal bando di concorso. Allo stesso tempo la loro disposizione volumetrica, definita in funzione della pendenza del lotto, fa sì che il centro comunitario si manifesti come un susseguirsi di tre volumi alternati e circondati da corti e aree verdi. Al piano terra del nuovo centro comunitario si trovano la scuola primaria e le funzioni dell’area comune, con le relative aree verdi di pertinenza. Al piano primo trovano posto la nuova biblioteca e la scuola di infanzia con il proprio cortile verde. I due accessi pubblici al lotto consentono una connessione pedonale migliore e più sicura verso il centro del paese, evitando di passare per la strada. Attraverso le sezioni si palesano i collegamenti funzionali richiesti dal bando, così come la presenza di spazi ariosi, luminosi e di connessioni flessibili tra gli ambienti: questi elementi sono organizzati per mezzo di passaggi di grande visibilità e semplicità di accesso. Gli involucri fuori terra riproducono le altezze del tessuto urbano circostante; le corti verdi offrono lo spazio sicuro di gioco per le attività scolastiche e gli ingressi di luce negli ambienti collettivi. Arrivando dalla strada il prospetto principale mostra tre unità edilizie apparentemente separate tra loro e intervallate da corti e spazi verdi, i quali permettono al progetto di integrarsi in maniera bilanciata con le unità abitative del tessuto circostante.

Riva di Tures (Rain in Taufers) is a small town in the hearth of South Tyrol alps, inside the Riva valley. During winter it can become isolated for days. The project defines a new community centre consinsting of shared functions for the community’s winter activities. A sequence of open and closed spaces that are autonomous – but also connected one another – settles inside the urban structure and recalls the typology and proportion of the territory. Functions are organised in two levels through horizontal and vertical links: these ones provide the connections demanded by the competition brief. At the same time, through a volumetric composition defined in relation to the ground slope of the plot, the whole community centre appears as a group of three distinct elements, surrounded and spaced out with green areas and inner courtyards. The new comunitary centre’s groundfloor comes with the primary school, the common space functions along with their green areas. The first floor provides instead the new library, the kindergarten and its green courtyard. The two public accesses to the plot allow a better and safer pedestrian connection to the town centre, thus avoiding street crossing. The sections show the core ideas around which the project is shaped.
The functional links required inside the competition brief, as well as the necessary wide and generous spaces and flexible connections among the enviroments are organised through very clear and easily accessible passages. The building casings above the ground reproduce the heights of the surrounding urban context, while the green courtyards provide the safe playground for the school activities and the light entrance inside the common areas. Approaching from the street, the main facade shows three elements apparently detached one another and interrupted by courtyards and green spaces, thus allowing the project to settle harmoniously among the dwelling units of the surrounding context.
